Seamless Textures

New tutorial! In the previous tutorial we used seamless textures I’d already created. In this tutorial we’ll look at how to create seamless repeating textures from image files.

There’s a lot of software out there that claims to build seamless textures from photographs automatically. I played with a few and got OK, but less-than-perfect results. Here’s what I think: if you need seamless textures, you’ll want to hand edit them so that not only are they seamless, but they look good when they repeat, too. That’s part skill, part luck, part source material, and part trial and error.

My next tutorial will cover more advanced texturing and UV mapping in Blender.
